"Nonviolent Communication shows us
a way of being very honest,

but without any criticism, without any insults, without any put-downs,
without any intellectual diagnosis implying wrongness."

- Marshall Rosenberg, Founder of NVC

Why NVC?

Nonviolent Communication is a practice developed by Marshall Rosenberg. It's based on some very simple universal truths:
  • everyone has the same basic human needs
  • and everything we do is an attempt to meet a need.
Connecting to those needs transforms pain, conflict, and violence into connection, acceptance, and empowerment.

Some Benefits of Practicing NVC are:

  • deeper connection
  • increased emotional intelligence/literacy
  • living more authentically
  • improved social skills
  • practical ways to “be” in the present moment
  • increased self-awareness, self-acceptance, and confidence
  • greater harmony with others and how to promote that harmony
  • participate in the nonviolence movement

NVC can be used with:

  • My relationship with myself
(my self talk, how I understand my own actions, and how I motivate myself to change)
  • My personal relationships (both through communicating more effectively and promoting realistic understanding and deeper connection)
  • My work relationships (through communication and practical tools for managing conflict and HOW to not take things personally)
  • Groups (either in small meetings or large social groups)
